Events in Scarborough
Curious Collecting: At the Scarborough Art Gallery there is an exhibition which brings together contemporary art from the Arts Council Collection with fossils from the Scarborough Museums Trusts' own collection. The exhibition explores 'the museum' as a place to collect, identify and display objects. It runs until the 6th of July.
Cinema
At The Futurist at the moment you can see 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull', the fourth, and much awaited, film in the adventure series, in which Harrison Ford again stars as Indiana Jones. In this film the archological target is the Crystal Skull and the villains are the Russians.
At the Holywood Plaza at the same time is the big screen version of the very popular TV show, 'Sex and the City'.

Theatre
May saw the start of the summer season at the Stephen Joseph Theatre and the theme this year is 'things that go bump in the night' - ghosts. The first of the plays by Sir Alan Ayckbourn was 'Haunting Julia', about a father's attempt to discover the truth behind his daughter's suicide. This started in May and runs on various dates through to the 23rd of August. The second of the series, 'Snakes in the grass', begins on the 5th of June and runs until the 22nd of August. The final play, 'Life and Beth', begins its run in July.
Also at the SJT you can watch some of the best films on release. From the 2nd to the 5th of June the theatre is showing 'The Orphanage', a tale of love and horror. Other films in June are, 'In Bruges', 'Happy-go-Lucky', and 'Son of Rambow'.

Music
At the Futurist on the 15th of June you can experience 'Dancing Queen'. This is a celebration of great dance music from the '70s and will feature hits from Abba, the film Saturday Night Fever, and much more.
