Developing Intercultural Competence in a European Context follows the success of Effective Communication in a European Context.
This course consists of 4 weeks pre-course eLearning, one week of training in Scarborough and a post-course eLearning phase. The course aims to increase intercultural awareness and prepare participants for working with partners and students from other cultural backgrounds. Training sessions can include:
- Language and culture
- Cultural profiling
- Cultural dimensions
- Managing cultural clashes
- Critical incidents in the intercultural classroom
- Best practice for intercultural meetings
The course also allows participants to practise English while networking with other teachers, teacher trainers and educational managers who may be working on EU projects.
Developing Intercultural Competence in a European Context is listed as a recognised training course in the Comenius - Grundtvig Training Database. The course code is UK-2008-668-006. Successful funding applications will cover course fees, homestay accommodation, travel and expenses. Applications for funding for this course are invited through your through your National Agency .

The highly effective combination of eLearning and classroom-based teaching is known as blended learning. The material for the eLearning phases has been written by Anglolang's own eLearning team. Each participant on this course has a personal tutor who provides individual feedback on eLearning exercises.
